In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities. -- János Arany

It's spring here in Phoenix and with the long hot summer looming I am feeling the wanderlust settling in early this year.  The need to escape the stifling heat seems to be getting ever stronger and persistent in me.  I find myself missing the traveling and road trips that used to occur with such frequency before I married the LollyPOP Vintage brick and mortar store.  My dreams are morphing into something new...something with more freedom and adventure involved.

Lately when asked if opening the store was worth it I find myself replying "Hindsight being 20/20 I would have made a kick ass website instead.".  So that is just what I am going to do. The online LollyPOP Vintage store is  launching at the end of May. I am doing all the web stuff myself and as a recognized technotard please bare with me. I did just work on a photo shoot with Trish Nenes and Caleb Alvarado for the site and I must say that went swimmingly and I believe it is a sign of good things to come.

So on a sadder note my family and I have decided to close our brick and mortar location. While LollyPOP Vintage is a family owned company it really is, for the most part, a one man show. That person being me and I can not do everything I would like to do as well as I like and deal with the day to day of a brick and mortar. We may open another one someday but right now I would like to concentrate on other things like traveling the country picking fabulous vintage for the online store, getting together a repro line, taking some classes and maybe even actually becoming a decent blogger.  I have been blessed with my store dream coming true and now it's time to make room for more dreams and adventures.

My family and I would like to thank everyone who helped make the store possible by supporting us over the years.  Without all of you clearly this would have never been and we hope you continue to support us on our new ventures on the web.

The LollyPOP Vintage online store should be up to speed at the end May.  We will only be carrying women's in the LPV shop but look for our men's line in the fall under the Peacock & Preen label.  We are also planning on participating in local events for our AZ fans...so don't fret, we aren't going away. LollyPOP Vintage is just evolving into something new and, we would like to think, wonderful.

So this is the sequence of events

Our Phoenix location is winding down during the month of May and closing it's doors May 26th.  Be sure to "Like" us on Facebook to keep posted on sales events during the month and our future happenings.

LollyPOP Vintage's women's online store is launching at the end May

The Eclectic Monkey location will close it's doors for regular store hours May 26th and will only be opened for The Big Show, a once a month 4 day sales event.  More details soon!
All LPV merchandise out there is 50% off out there right now :)

MIM ~ A Very Vintage Valentine's Day

In February LollyPOP Vintage was honored to be asked to be part of the Very Vintage Valentine's Day event at the MIM and, oddly, I totally forgot to put the pics up. So here they are. Better late then never I suppose.

Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward

“Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat.” ~ Joanne Woodward

“I don't like to discuss my marriage, but I will tell you something which may sound corny but which happens to be true. I have steak at home. Why should I go out for hamburger?” ~ Paul Newman

“I never ask my wife about my flaws. Instead I try to get her to ignore them and concentrate on my sense of humor. You don't want any woman to look under the carpet, guys, because there's lots of flaws underneath. Joanne believes my character in a film we did together, 'Mr. and Mrs. Bridge' comes closest to who I really am. I personally don't think there's one character who comes close . . . but I learned a long time ago not to disagree on things that I don't have a solid opinion about.” ~ P.N.

People stay married because they want to, not because the doors are locked. ~ P.N.

"Husbands and wives should have separate interests, cultivate different sets of friends and not impose on the other. You can’t spend a lifetime breathing down each other’s necks. We are very, very different people and yet somehow we fed off those varied differences and instead of separating us, it has made the whole bond a lot stronger.” ~ P.N.

"Being married to Paul is being married to the most considerate, romantic man." ~ J.W.

Joanne Woodward met Paul Newman in 1953.  They later reconnected on the set of The Long Hot Summer in 1957.  They married on February 2, 1958, in Las Vegas.  The couple remained together until Newman's death from cancer on
September 26, 2008.

Paul and Joanne were married for 50 years and there are so many adorable pictures of them together that seem to illustrate just how happy they really were.
